• How to fix Calls not being Unmasked?

If TrapCall isn’t unmasking your blocked or private calls, don’t worry—we're here to help you figure out why and how to fix it.

👉 Calls Before Activation Can’t Be Unmasked

TrapCall can only unmask calls that are forwarded to our servers while they’re ringing. This means:

    • We cannot unmask any calls you received before you activated TrapCall

    • TrapCall needs to intercept the call in real-time to work its magic

👉 You Must Decline the Call

To unmask a blocked, private, or no caller ID call, you must decline the call (reject it while it’s ringing). Here’s why:

    • If you answer the call or if the caller hangs up too quickly, the call will not be forwarded to TrapCall, and we will not be able to unmask it

    • On iPhones, if the screen is locked, double-tap the side button to decline a call

👉 Make Sure These Settings Are Correct

If you’re still having trouble, double-check the following:

    • Silence Unknown Callers should be OFF
Go to Settings > Phone > Silence Unknown Callers and turn it off. This feature can prevent calls from ringing and block them before TrapCall sees them.

    • TrapCall needs to be properly programmed
Sometimes phones lose their call forwarding setup due to software updates, SIM changes, or switching carriers. Reprogram TrapCall on your phone using these steps.

    • Try a fresh install

      1. Delete the TrapCall app

      2. Reboot your phone

      3. Reinstall the app from the App Store or Play Store

  • How to fix Notifications not working

If you’re not receiving notifications from TrapCall—like missed call alerts, voicemail alerts, or blacklisted call warnings—don’t worry! Here are some easy steps to troubleshoot the issue and get your notifications back on track.

    👉 Check Your Plan

Notifications (Push and SMS) are only available to TrapCall subscribers. If you're on the Basic plan, you'll need to upgrade to access this feature. To check your current plan, log in to your account at trapcall.com.

    👉 Restart Notification Settings

Refreshing your settings can help reestablish the notification connection:

    1. Open the TrapCall app
    2. Go to Settings > Call Settings
    3. Toggle Use Push Notifications, Missed Call Alerts, and Blacklisted Call Alerts OFF
    4. Then toggle them back ON

For voicemail alerts, go to Settings > Voicemail Settings and toggle the setting there.

    👉 Reinstall the App

    If the issue continues:

    1. Uninstall the TrapCall app
    2. Reboot your phone
    3. Reinstall the app from the App Store
    4. Log in again and place a test call to check if notifications work properly

    👉 Not Receiving SMS Notifications?

If you're missing text message alerts:

    • Push Notifications may be overriding SMS. Let us know and we’ll disable the “Override SMS with Push” setting for your account.

    • If MMS alerts aren't working, we can switch your alerts from MMS to standard SMS format instead.

  • How to fix Programming and Activation Issues

Sometimes you might experience problems like:

    • “TrapCall isn’t working”

    • “My calls aren’t unmasking anymore”

    • "I can't activate the service"
    • Seeing all unmasked calls appear as (229) 518-6462 or +10000000000

Don’t worry! These issues often stem from phone or carrier changes and can usually be resolved by reprogramming your device with alternative activation codes.

    👉 Why does this happen?
Phones can lose programming any time you:

    • Update iOS or Android

    • Receive a carrier update

    • Change phones or numbers

    • Remove the SIM card

    • Let the battery die completely

    • Leave the US

    • Change carriers

    👉 How to Reprogram TrapCall
First, make sure your carrier supports Conditional Call Forwarding, which is required for TrapCall to work. Then follow these steps:

    1. Turn off Wi-Fi on your phone

    2. Dial each of the codes below (specific to your carrier) one at a time and press Call

      • Be sure to include special characters like * and #

    3. Your phone should beep and disconnect or confirm forwarding

    Verizon

    • *907738013928

    • *927738013928

    T-Mobile

    • **61*7326082679#

    • **62*7326082679#

    • **67*7326082679#

    AT&T

    • **61*7018011262#

    • **62*7018011262#

    • **67*7018011262#

If you don’t get a success message, please let us know what message appears so we can continue troubleshooting.

    👉 Seeing (229) 518-6462 or +10000000000 as the caller?
This means the current access number isn’t working. Keep trying different DIDs until you find one that works. Note: sending carrier instructions won’t fix this—it’s a “Diversion” issue.

👉 Special Note for California and New York Users
If you’re in California, use an Arizona DID (408 area code).
If you’re in New York, use a New Jersey DID (732 area code).

  • How to fix Spam Protection and Call Blocking

If you’re still receiving spam or unknown calls on your iPhone despite using TrapCall, don’t worry, here’s what’s going on and how to fix it!

👉 Why am I still getting calls from Blocked or Unknown numbers?

    • iOS limitation: Apple doesn’t allow developers to block “No Caller ID” or “Unknown” calls directly. No app on iOS can automatically reject these calls.
    • What TrapCall does: TrapCall can reveal these calls (unmasking) and then let you block them. When you add a number to your Blacklist, that caller will hear a message “the number you’re calling has been disconnected” if they try calling again.

👉 Why do I get calls marked as spam that still ring through?

This is usually due to an issue with iOS Call Blocking & Identification feature (known as CallKit). Sometimes, incorrect entries in this section can cause calls to slip through. Here’s how to fix it:

    1. Go to Settings > Phone > Call Blocking & Identification
    2. Remove any numbers without the country code (+1 for US), delete any entries that are names, emails, or incomplete numbers
    3. Uninstall the TrapCall app and reboot your phone
    4. Reinstall TrapCall from the App Store (but don’t open it yet)
    5. Go back to Settings > Phone > Call Blocking & Identification and turn on the TrapCall switch
    6. Finally, open the TrapCall app and sign in

    👉 Other apps causing issues?

If you have other apps using Call Blocking & Identification (e.g. Robokiller), try turning them off or uninstalling them altogether.

    👉 TrapCall’s spam-blocking approach

TrapCall uses the same spam call blocking features and Global Spam List as Robokiller. However, unlike Robokiller’s Answer Bots, TrapCall plays a fake “number disconnected” message for spam or blacklisted callers. This helps discourage them from trying again.

    👉 Using the Whitelist

Want to make sure specific numbers always reach you? Use the Whitelist feature (similar to Robokiller’s Allow List). You can add numbers to this list through the TrapCall app.

👉 Trouble enabling Spam Protection for iPhone?

If you see an “Error Enabling Extension” message or can’t toggle TrapCall under Call Blocking & Identification, try this:

    1. Close the Settings app and wait 2–3 minutes
    2. Reopen Settings > Phone > Call Blocking & Identification and try again
    3. Make sure your iPhone is updated to the latest iOS version
    4. If needed, uninstall TrapCall, reboot your phone, and reinstall the app

  • How to fix your Voicemail issues

If you’re having trouble receiving voicemails or callers can’t leave you a message while using TrapCall, follow the steps below based on your carrier.

👉 For AT&T and Cricket Users

TrapCall sometimes can’t automatically recover your voicemail number from your carrier. Here’s how to fix that:

    1. Dial ##004# and press Call. Dismiss any notification.
    2. Dial #67# and press Call again. Note the voicemail number starting with +1 (no parentheses or hyphens).
    3. Send that number to us by replying to our latest support email
    4. We’ll update your account and send new programming instructions

If needed, reprogram by dialing 004*DID# (replace DID# with the correct voicemail number) and press Call.

👉 For T-Mobile and MetroPCS Users

Use this voicemail box deposit number:

    • +18056377243 (try changing the last digit to 9 if needed: +18056377249)

    👉 For Verizon Users

Program your phone to forward calls to the correct voicemail access number:

    • Enter your own phone number as the Voicemail Number
    • If it doesn’t work, keep trying different DIDs (access numbers) until you find one that works

👉 For Sprint, US Cellular, Visible, Spectrum, and C-Spire Users

These carriers don’t allow TrapCall to forward calls to their voicemail system. Instead:

    • Use TrapCall’s Hosted Voicemail, which lets you get messages directly in the app and set a custom greeting. Contact us to activate it.

    👉 Using Your Carrier Voicemail

TrapCall’s voicemail offers some great features, but if you prefer your carrier’s voicemail:

    • AT&T, T-Mobile, MetroPCS, Verizon, and Cricket users can continue using their carrier voicemail alongside TrapCall

👉 How to Restore Carrier Voicemail

If you cancel TrapCall or want to go back to your carrier’s voicemail:

    1. Visit www.deactivatemyphone.com
    2. Follow the steps to remove TrapCall and restore your carrier voicemail
    3. This tool is available 24/7

    👉 Important Notes

    • Always make sure your voicemail number is formatted as +1xxxxxxxxxx without parentheses or hyphens.
    • If you’re still having issues after confirming your voicemail number, it may be a diversion issue. Contact us and we’ll help reprogram your device to a different access number.
