Sometimes you might experience problems like:
-
“TrapCall isn’t working”
-
“My calls aren’t unmasking anymore”
- "I can't activate the service"
-
Seeing all unmasked calls appear as (229) 518-6462 or +10000000000
Don’t worry! These issues often stem from phone or carrier changes and can usually be resolved by reprogramming your device with alternative activation codes.
👉 Why does this happen?
Phones can lose programming any time you:
-
Update iOS or Android
-
Receive a carrier update
-
Change phones or numbers
-
Remove the SIM card
-
Let the battery die completely
-
Leave the US
-
Change carriers
👉 How to Reprogram TrapCall
First, make sure your carrier supports Conditional Call Forwarding, which is required for TrapCall to work. Then follow these steps:
-
Turn off Wi-Fi on your phone
-
Dial each of the codes below (specific to your carrier) one at a time and press Call
-
Be sure to include special characters like * and #
-
-
Your phone should beep and disconnect or confirm forwarding

👉 Seeing (229) 518-6462 or +10000000000 as the caller?
This means the current access number isn’t working. Keep trying different DIDs until you find one that works. Note: sending carrier instructions won’t fix this—it’s a “Diversion” issue.
👉 Special Note for California and New York Users
If you’re in California, use an Arizona DID (408 area code).
If you’re in New York, use a New Jersey DID (732 area code).
