If you’re still receiving spam or unknown calls on your iPhone despite using TrapCall, don’t worry, here’s what’s going on and how to fix it!
👉 Why am I still getting calls from Blocked or Unknown numbers?
- iOS limitation: Apple doesn’t allow developers to block “No Caller ID” or “Unknown” calls directly. No app on iOS can automatically reject these calls.
- What TrapCall does: TrapCall can reveal these calls (unmasking) and then let you block them. When you add a number to your Blacklist, that caller will hear a message “the number you’re calling has been disconnected” if they try calling again.
👉 Why do I get calls marked as spam that still ring through?
This is usually due to an issue with iOS Call Blocking & Identification feature (known as CallKit). Sometimes, incorrect entries in this section can cause calls to slip through. Here’s how to fix it:
- Go to Settings > Phone > Call Blocking & Identification
- Remove any numbers without the country code (+1 for US), delete any entries that are names, emails, or incomplete numbers
- Uninstall the TrapCall app and reboot your phone
- Reinstall TrapCall from the App Store (but don’t open it yet)
- Go back to Settings > Phone > Call Blocking & Identification and turn on the TrapCall switch
- Finally, open the TrapCall app and sign in
👉 Other apps causing issues?
If you have other apps using Call Blocking & Identification (e.g. Robokiller), try turning them off or uninstalling them altogether.
👉 TrapCall’s spam-blocking approach
TrapCall uses the same spam call blocking features and Global Spam List as Robokiller. However, unlike Robokiller’s Answer Bots, TrapCall plays a fake “number disconnected” message for spam or blacklisted callers. This helps discourage them from trying again.
👉 Using the Whitelist
Want to make sure specific numbers always reach you? Use the Whitelist feature (similar to Robokiller’s Allow List). You can add numbers to this list through the TrapCall app.
👉 Trouble enabling Spam Protection for iPhone?
If you see an “Error Enabling Extension” message or can’t toggle TrapCall under Call Blocking & Identification, try this:
- Close the Settings app and wait 2–3 minutes
- Reopen Settings > Phone > Call Blocking & Identification and try again
- Make sure your iPhone is updated to the latest iOS version
- If needed, uninstall TrapCall, reboot your phone, and reinstall the app
