• How does TrapCall help me identify who’s calling?

    👉 How does TrapCall unmask calls?

    When you receive a blocked, private, or No Caller ID call, simply decline it. Within seconds, TrapCall will ring you back with the caller’s phone number displayed.

     

    👉 Can TrapCall unmask spoofed calls?

    No. TrapCall cannot unmask calls that use number spoofing. These calls appear as regular calls and cannot be distinguished from legitimate ones.

     

    👉 What is Privacy Lock?

    When TrapCall can’t unmask an Unknown Caller because they’re using VoIP (Skype, WhatsApp, Google Voice, etc.) and *67, we display (229) 518-6462 as a placeholder.

    Privacy Lock (if enabled) will then ask the caller to identify themselves before forwarding the call back to you. You’ll hear their response before choosing whether to accept the call.

     

    👉 Can TrapCall show me who called before I activated it?

    No. TrapCall only works on calls received after it’s been activated on your phone. It cannot reveal information about calls received before you started using the service.

     

    👉 Why are my calls not ringing but showing as unmasked in the app?

    If you’re on iOS 13 or later, the Silence Unknown Callers feature might be enabled. This sends calls from unknown numbers straight to voicemail and marks them as missed. TrapCall can still unmask these calls, but your phone might not ring. To disable it:

    • Go to Settings > Phone > Silence Unknown Callers > toggle it OFF

     

    👉 What is Reverse Number Lookup?

    TrapCall’s in-app Reverse Lookup feature lets you search any phone number to see details like names, addresses, and more. You can also block the number directly from the result.

    • Free plan: 10 lookups per month
    • Ultimate plan: Unlimited lookups per month

     

    👉 How does TrapCall get this information?

    TrapCall uses public databases to gather information. When you receive a call, we check:

    • If your plan includes lookups
    • If we already have Caller ID data cached for that number
      • If not, we perform a new lookup and save the result

     

    We cache this information for about 3 months to avoid repetitive lookups. If the information has changed since it was cached, it might be outdated.

  • What is Live Caller ID?

    When you receive a call from a number that’s not in your contacts, you can decline the call, and TrapCall will forward it back to you with more details about the caller. This gives you the option to decide whether to answer the call or send it to voicemail.

    Live Caller ID also automatically saves the caller’s information as a contact on your phone. The next time that number calls, you’ll see the info immediately.

    👉 How to manage Live Caller ID contacts

    To remove all Live Caller ID contacts:

    • Open the TrapCall app
    • Tap Settings > Call Settings > Purge Live Caller ID contacts

    👉 Potential issues and how to fix them

    Some users find that enabling Live Caller ID can cause extra rings or delays before a caller leaves a message

    • If voicemails aren’t working properly or calls are being unmasked incorrectly, disabling Live Caller ID may fix the issue
    • Note: Turning off Live Caller ID does not affect TrapCall’s main Unmasking feature

    • We check if you have lookups on your account (based on your plan)
    • If we’ve seen the number before, we use the existing caller ID
    • If it’s new, we perform a fresh lookup
